Apartment in Marylebone, London

Our client asked us to come up with a design for a completely new internal layout to a flat in a 1960s Seifert Apartment Block near to Baker Street.

Our approach was to remove all of the internal, non load-bearing walls and reconfigure the internal spaces to provide a two bedroom apartment with an open-plan living and kitchen area.

The rooms are all linked by a single unifying wall forming one side of the entrance hall and extending to the living area at the front of the flat and back to the bedrooms at the rear. This wall is clad in solid walnut, and at the living room end a large pivot door opens up to give a sense of the space flowing through into the living area. This is then accentuated by the floor, a single pour of resin flooring with a reflective finish which helps to bring light deeper into the flat.
