Le Pertus
Dordogne, France
Our client bought a run-down farmhouse and barn on the south-western edge of the Dordogne region in France. Both buildings have been completely restored and renovated to provide a five bedroom house and adjacent gite.

The farmhouse building was stripped back to the stonework and completely refurbished to provide a five bedroom house. Minor alterations were made to the existing roof timbers to create first floor rooms, and the roof covering was renewed. The 'chai' or small barn building was collapsing, and had to be completely restored and refurbished to create further accommodation. Materials were kept very simple with the renovated stone walls, reused clay roof tiles and original timber structure reused where possible. The work was done by a local family builder who specialises in stone buildings in the region. |
